BUP Law Student Bagged the Best Advocate (Best Mooter) award in the Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon World Jural Conclave Mooting Competition 2023
Sihon Sultana Umi, a second year Law
Student from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) bagged the Best
Advocate (Best Mooter) award for her excellent oration and articulation skills
in the Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon World Jural Conclave Mooting Competition 2023.
She was the only Bangladeshi participate to get an award in this international
competition.
The competition is in its eight years,
which was initiated in the year 2015, as Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon SAARC LAW
Mooting Competition and Law Students Conference. The competition's organizers
hope to give law students a stage on which to demonstrate their skills and
overall development as lawyers. This year's Competition was divided into three
parts i.e., Mooting Competition, Students' Conference and Global Colloquium. It
was organized by Lloyd Law, Greater Noida (U.P.), India. The moot argument was
centered on the commercial exploitation of natural resources, particularly the
harm done across international borders and the humanitarian catastrophe. In the
competition, 52 teams participated. Among the competing teams were law schools
from all around India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Nigeria. The competition took
place from February 15 to February 18, 2023. The valedictory was graced by
Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. Thurairaja, Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka as the
Chief Guest and Mr. R Venkataramani, learned Attorney General for India,
Chairperson Global Jural Conclave,2023, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Mohd Faiz Alam
Khan, Judge, High Court of Judicator at Allahabad, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sanjay
Prasad, Judge, High Court of Jharkhand as the Guest of Honour.
