Team BUP in the international Round of Philip C. International Law Moot Court Competition
Dhaka, 19 February 2022: Team BUP has made to the international Round
of Philip C. International Law Moot Court Competition.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot
Court Competition is the world's oldest, most renowned, and biggest moot court
competition. Every year, legal students from over 700 law schools and 90
nations participate in a replication of a hypothetical dispute between
countries before the International Court of Justice, the United Nations'
judicial authority.
After two hectic days of fighting tooth and
nail, the team has been qualified for international round. BUP team
consisting, of Wakila Hussain Moumi, Fahmin Chowdhury Tajim, Noor
Afrose, Talukdar Tanjila, Mubin Iqbal Chowdhury and Psyme Wadud as team
coach.
The team competed with four universities in
the preliminary round, faced quarter finals and reached the Semi Final of the
competition making its mark as one of the top four universities in the
Bangladesh Qualifying round. From the oralists, Wakila Hussain ranked 6th and
Fahmin Chowdhury ranked 17th out of 48 mooters and entered into the Jessup Hall
of Fame.
The team will participate in the global round
of 2022 Philip C. International Law Moot Court Competition. Due to current
covid protocols, the competition will be held in online this year.
This is a milestone and matter of great
achievement for the Department of Law as well as for the University.
