Biography

Ifta Alam Shobuj is a dedicated and passionate young academic and researcher with a strong educational background in the field of disaster management. He obtained both his BSS and MSS in Disaster Management & Resilience from the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Currently, he serves as a lecturer in the Department of Disaster Management & Resilience at BUP, where he imparts his knowledge and expertise to aspiring future disaster managers. Before joining BUP, Ifta gained practical experience in diverse dimensions such as disaster and emergency management, climate change adaptation, climate-resilient smart agriculture, and climate financing while working at the international NGO ActionAid ActionAid Bangladesh. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum, including human dimensions, human perception, mental health, disaster preparedness assessment, vulnerability, GIS, and remote sensing. More specifically, his current research focuses on the multidimensional assessment of disaster preparedness and vulnerability, flood management, and risk assessment in different climate-vulnerable areas in Bangladesh.
