Biography
Rabeya Akter Sathi is a peace advocate, academic, and development professional with an interdisciplinary background in Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) from the University of Dhaka. She currently serves as a Lecturer in Peace, Conflict, and Human Rights, where she teaches undergraduate students and contributes to research and curriculum development.
She is a recipient of the Dean’s Award for academic excellence and the Women Peace Ambassador Award, jointly conferred by UN Women and the Embassy of Japan, recognizing her grassroots initiatives promoting peace, social cohesion, and youth empowerment.
Her work bridges academia, policy, and practice. As a former Research Associate at the Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ), she co-developed a paralegal training module in collaboration with Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) to strengthen legal literacy and access to justice for marginalized communities. She has also contributed to community-based peacebuilding and social development initiatives.
Her published research examines Bangladesh’s role in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, analyzing peacekeeping dynamics, policy implications, and global security trends. Her research interests include geopolitics, international peace and security, global governance, state policy, conflict resolution, human rights, development studies from Global South perspectives.
