Department of Accounting and Information Systems Organizes Workshop on Research, Grants, and Publication

The Department of Accounting and Information Systems organized a workshop titled "Research, Grants, and Publication" for faculty members of the Faculty of Business Studies (FBS), held on August 2 at the FBS Conference Room. Professor M. Azizul Islam, Chair in Accountancy and Director of Research at the University of Aberdeen Business School, UK, served as the resource person. Professor Islam is a Chartered Accountant (CAANZ) and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, with research interests spanning sustainability accounting, transparency, human rights, modern slavery, social audit, climate change, and anti-bribery.

Brigadier General Md Aminul Akbar Khan, awc, afwc, psc, MPhil, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, and Associate Professor Dr. Tapan Mahmud, Chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, were present at the session.

During the session, Professor Islam discussed the nuances of PhD applications, with particular focus on the application processes for Australia and the UK. He shared practical guidance on how prospective applicants can secure international funding to support their PhD studies, along with strategies for reaching out to potential supervisors effectively.

The workshop also covered pathways to publishing in prestigious academic journals, offering attendees insight into the standards and expectations of high impact venues. Professor Islam further highlighted how social accounting principles can be meaningfully integrated across research areas, encouraging participants to consider its relevance beyond traditional boundaries.

Both early career researchers and seasoned academics from FBS attended the session and found it highly beneficial for their academic and professional development.
