Durray Shahwar Sadaf, a student of the Department of Peace, Conflict and Human Rights (PCHR), Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS), Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), represented Bangladesh and BUP as the sole Bangladeshi participant at the ASEF Young Leaders Summit 2026 (ASEFYLS 2026) Capacity Training, held on 23-29 August 2026 at Tromsø, Norway.

The prestigious program was organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and hosted by UiT The Arctic University of Norway. Under the theme “Anticipatory Leadership for a Human-Centered Future,” the program brought together only 40 young leaders from 40 countries, selected from more than 3,600 applicants worldwide.

Sadaf's participation marks a significant milestone for the Department of PCHR, as he is the first student from the Department to represent PCHR at an international platform of this nature. During the program, he actively contributed to discussions on Indigenous rights, inclusive peacebuilding, sustainability, and the protection of the Sámi community. His participation at this prestigious international forum reflects the academic vision of the University as well as Bangladesh.
