In a significant achievement for Bangladesh’s debating community, the team from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), competing under the name BUP AMS, has won the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Championship at the United Asian Debating Championship (UADC) 2025, held this year in Guangzhou, China.
The team—composed of Abid Bin Ahmad Nur, Gazi Mahtab, and Rubaiyat Samad—delivered a series of commanding performances at Asia’s largest and most prestigious inter-varsity parliamentary debating tournament. Their victory is being celebrated as a major milestone for Bangladeshi participation on the global debating stage.
The success extended beyond the championship title, with all three debaters earning individual recognition for their speaking excellence:
UADC is widely regarded as the most competitive platform for Asian university debaters, drawing participation from top institutions across the continent. In this context, BUP AMS’s triumph is being hailed as both a personal achievement for the team and a broader victory for Bangladesh’s academic and extracurricular excellence.
This historic win not only elevates the status of BUP in the Asian debating circuit but also inspires future generations of Bangladeshi students to pursue competitive debating at an international level.
The debating community across the country has extended heartfelt congratulations to the team for their success and for representing Bangladesh with distinction on such a prestigious stage.
